Audit Section is one of the important Sections of this Department. Audit plays a vital role in this Department. Audit Report shows the factual financial position of the societies. It helps to keep control and regularize the smooth functioning of the Societies. If the financial position of the society is very weak than the Registrar can take the decision on the liquidation, cancellation, reconstruction, and deregistration of societies. The work of allotment of an audit, conducting the Special audit & Re-audit of societies, maintenance of Audit Reports, Audit fees assessment and all other audit-related work is done through this Section.
All the Cooperative Banks and Societies in Goa are registered under the Goa Cooperative Societies Act 2001 and audit of such Banks/Societies are conducted by the Chartered Accountants and Certified Auditors which are impaneled on the Panel of Auditors constituted by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies under Section 74(2) of the Goa Cooperative Societies Act, 2001.
The Registrar of Cooperative Societies, under Section 74(2) of Goa State Coop. Societies Act, 2001 issues the Order to the Chartered Accountants, Certified Auditors and Departmental Auditors to conduct the Audit of the societies assigned to them. It is the responsibility of the Audit Section to ensure that the audit of the Banks /Societies is completed within the specified period i.e. by 30-11-2011. and to see that the audit fees and filing fees have been paid by the Banks/societies under Section 74(2) and Section 81 of the Act respectively.
